3ème fils de Clodomir, lui-même fils de Clovis et de sainte Clotilde, né vers 522. Il échappa au massacre de ses frères par ses oncles Clotaire et Childebert, et se retira à Nogent, village près de Paris, où il fonda un monastère. Mort en 560. Canonisé sous le nom de Cloud. Patron des cloutiers, également invoqué contre les furoncles. Nom issu du germain "hrod" (gloire) et "waldan" (gouverner). Fête le 7 septembre.
